Susan Zhang is a Chinese communication localisation expert and technologist born in China. Since 2009, she has studied and worked in Australia and United Kingdom. She is passionate about propelling Sino-Australian cultural relationships, and communicates swiftly across cultures and collaborates over many geographical borders.
When she was studying in Australia as an International student, many fellow classmates and global friends came to her with all kinds of questions about China, language and culture. With her passion in language and arts, she started from tutoring for mandarin assignment, to craft her own ‘Doing business in China’ class to local small business owner.
In 2012, Susan founded Dragon Translating and Interpreting Service, with trusted clients ranging from universities, international companies and government agencies. In 2016, she opened the London brunch to cater for the UK needs.
Xiaochen(Susan) Zhang previously worked on Global Partnerships for Corporate Development at ByteDance, the most valuable startup in the world who is building the future of content discovery and creation powered by AI technology. Prior to that, she was Creative Technologist at Google UK, and Business Development and Partnerships for Google Arts & Culture in Sydney, Australia. Her deep expertise in both the buying and selling sides of online advertising, brought machine learning and programmatic advertising to life for the largest advertisers across EMEA and APAC.
A serial entrepreneur, Susan has founded multiple startups, including Dragon Translating and Interpreting Service, which helps Australian businesses and government agencies to improve cultural understanding with China. She uses these experiences to mentor young entrepreneurs in Australia, UK, Canada and China. She is a committee member for the Institute of Director's Young Directors Forum in London and an Australian delegate for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance(G20 YEA).
Ms Zhang has spoken at TEDx and Vivid events in Sydney, and at the AI Summit and International Marketing and Innovation Summit in China. She was also a guest speaker at the Asia Business Forum held by London Business School.
Ms Zhang holds dual Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Zhengzhou University, China and the University of Wollongong(UOW), Australia, as well as a Master of Information Communication Technology majoring in Enterprise Networking, also from UOW.
